Currently

Diane Machin graduated in quarantine with her Masters in Fine Arts in Directing at the New School, School for Drama. Since then she has assisted in creative content creation for Chautauqua Opera’s digital season, remotely directed and edited the virtual opera “A Storm We Call Progress” and directed a Zoom reading of ”Fabulous Monsters” by Diana Burbano for the Women’s Theatre Festival “Occupy the Stage.” Summer of 2021 Machin acted as Assistant Director for Chautauqua Opera’s productions of Scalia/Ginsburg and As the Cosi Crumbles: A Company Developed Piece. From 2021 to 2023 Machin acted as Visiting Professor and Director at Grand Valley State University directing Rosencrantz and Guildensten are Dead, Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play, Gloria and The Importance of Being Earnest. She returned Fall of 2023 to direct Jonathan Larsen’s Rent for Grand Valley State University’s Opera Theatre.

Since 2022 Diane has acted as Resident Assistant Director at Opera Theatre of St. Louis.

This past summer in 2025 she joined the team at Queens Summer Vocal Institute where she taught Movement and Dance to the High School Division, directed scenes for the Opera Scenes programs and assisted and choreographed Orpheus in the Underworld.

She and her partner now call Chicago home with their two black cats and miniature dachshund.
